WHEN HE THINKS OF ME

Scripture: Matthew 26:36-46

Key Verse: Matthew 26:38

Then He said to them, “My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with Me.”

Observation:

In Gethsemane, Jesus was crushed with sorrow — almost to the point of death — even before He reached the cross. Yet He said, “Stay here, stay awake and keep watch with Me.” Not because He couldn’t handle it alone, but because He was giving us the privilege to be with Him and show our love to Him.

When I meditate on this verse and look at my life, I can’t help but cry. It shows how much God loves me and has loved me.

Even before He carried the cross, there He was in Gethsemane — crushed and pressed to the point that it almost killed Him. This is what He endured for me. This is how serious He was about saving me.

Even in the hardest situation, He thinks of me.

Even in the most painful experience, He thinks of me.

Even if He only had one day left to live, He thinks of me.

God really shows how loving He is.

This made me think...

If Jesus thought of me in His season of pressing and crushing…

When I’m in my own season of pressing and crushing, is He also the One on my mind — the way I am always on His?

Do I also want to stay and be with Him?

 

Application

I will live my life under His grace and love. Just like the song 'Grace' by Laura Story, I will walk in daily, sufficient grace. So instead of trying to repay You, Lord, I will simply learn to obey You.

 

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for thinking of me in Gethsemane. You were crushed for me before You were even nailed to the cross. Thank You for the privilege of keeping watch with You — not because You need me, but because You want me with You.

Forgive me for the times I forget You when I’m being pressed. From now on, I want You to be my first thought, just like I was always on Yours. I receive Your sufficient grace daily. I won't try to repay You; I'll just obey You.

Teach me to stay, to stay awake, and to keep watch with You. In Jesus Name. Amen
