Hebrews 8 - Jesus Our Assurance in Heavenly Places

Hebrews 8 - Jesus Our Assurance in Heavenly places

We committed sin

We make mistakes

We fall short of the glory of God

Do we deserve to be forgiven and enter heaven?

If repeated sins, mistakes and disobedience were done to people, the answer is most likely NO.

But God’s mercy and grace through Jesus Christ the answer is YES. God gave us Jesus as our great mediator that assures our position in heavenly place.

Verse says,

8 Now the main point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, 2 and who serves in the sanctuary, the true tabernacle set up by the Lord, not by a mere human being

Imagine you have done a grievous thing to someone like stealing big amount of money but instead of him suing you, he even gives you more than what you steal and invites you to his house to eat with his loved ones.

You don’t have to pay him back

You just have to receive everything he offers.

What will be your response?

Will you refuse what he is offering or will you repent from your sin and show gratefulness

We can see that not by any good work, not by any effort but out of pure grace and love to forgive someone who has done us wrong.

Like the deepest love of the Father to us that no matter how sinful we are He still embraced us and gave us the chance to be with Him. He finds a way to save us from the sure danger in hell.

When we forget to pray, He reminds us through our devotions, intercessory prayer

When we disobey him, He gives us another chance on the next day to attend church activities

When we choose worldly decisions leading to destruction, He sends us people to guide us to a better path

When we disgrace him through complaining, there is the small voice of the Holy Spirit that will correct us

In any thing that separates us from God, He is making a way to bring us back to Him

Verse 7 says,

7 For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another

God chooses to forget the old, wicked and disgraceful human nature and make a new covenant with even better promises which enables man to be transformed to a godly life.

Verse 10 says,

10 This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel

after that time, declares the Lord.

I will put my laws in their minds

and write them on their hearts.

I will be their God,

and they will be my people.

Are we truly transformed on our speech, actions and thoughts When I say Lord, you are my God, do I really mean that everything he says I will obey even if I am not comfortable of doing it, even if it is painful, even if it will cost my time, strength and resources?

Do we really know our God that daily we want to please him in all areas of our life? Do I care and love those unlovable people, those whose attitude is unacceptable and those unhuggable people where God’s heart is and whose God’s love just like me?

Is my relationship to the Lord manifesting that people see God’s character in me and that they can know the goodness of God through me?

Verse 11 says,

11 No longer will they teach their neighbor,

or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’

because they will all know me,

from the least to the greatest.

Is everything that we learned by Gods’ grace through Church equipping’s reflects on our daily lives?

Are our dealings and treatments to our brothers and Sisters mirrors to our faith in God that we profess when we accepted Jesus as our personal Lord and savior?

Our personal relationship to God, not just intellectual doctrine. It is about knowing God as a loving Father. Gods’ heart is fulfilled through Jesus Christ alone. Let us put our confidence to the only one who can represent us to God the Father, our Lord Jesus Christ.

Is the new covenant in Jesus Christ causing us to be faithful or are we still turning away from God by giving in to our fleshly desires?

God’s will is perfect

God can never be wrong in His ways and intentions

God is merciful

God is loving

God is just

God chose us to be with him eternally in heaven.

Let us fully received and not abandon the assurance of eternal life in heaven through Jesus Christ.

Let us pray...

Heavenly Father, we come before you with everything exposed in your sight, both good and bad you know all, nothing we can hide from you, and we thank you for giving us this moment to ask forgiveness for all the wrong that we have done. Lord God, we are sorry if we put our trust on our own abilities, strength and resources apart of knowing that all those things are come from you.

Thank you for your faithfulness Lord God that though we choose to live in our own ways, you still choose to rescue us and give us the chance to know your purpose in our lives and live according to your will.

Align our speech, our thoughts and our actions to your will Father God that your people will see transformation in us. Help us Father God to live in confidence with the finished work of Jesus in a way that we always choose godly decisions and actions guarding our mouth, our lips and our minds.

Father God, thank you for giving us Jesus Christ as our High Priest, our mediator and our representative to you, our only assurance in heaven. In Jesus Name we pray, Amen
