1 Corinthians 15 clearly explains the resurrection of Jesus, the hope of believers and the victory of over death.
Paul has been giving the Corinthians doctrinal instructions and advices for the past chapters and in this chapter, he reminded and given them assurance of their faith.
1. HOLD FAST TO THE GOSPEL (v1-4)
Paul reminded them of the Gopel he preached them which saved them. He assured them that if they hold fast to what they believe in - the Gospel then their faith will not be in vain.
The Gospel - Christ died for our sins, burried and raised on the third day.
2. CHRIST'S RESURRECTION IS TRUE AND HAVE WITNESSES (v5-8)
- His resurrection is a historical truth not a myth, witnessed by many
- therefore our faith is rooted in truth and everything He promised is secure.
- His resurrection matters:
- it guarantees our future resurrection
- it reversed Adam's curse
- our suffering is not pointless
- our life today has meaning
3. WE ARE VICTORIOUS OVER DEATH
- because of Jesus' resurrection:
- death is defeated / lost its power
- fear is broken
- eternity is secure
CHRISTIAN HOPE IS TRUE AND CERTAIN!
let us reflect: Does Christ's resurrection:
- made our faith firm?
- made our hope alive?
- made our future secure?
Let us pray:
Lord Jesus, Thank you for defeating sin and death through your resurrection, when everything doesn't seem right to our life, please remind us how you defeated fear and the grave is not the end. May we always find hope in the assurance that the power of Your risen life is within us. Amen.
