Romans 8 - THE ETERNAL LOVE OF GOD

 

Romans 8

it lifts believers into the heights of assurance, freedom, and victory in Christ. It reveals life in the Spirit, our identity as God’s children, God’s purpose in suffering, and the unstoppable love of God.

1.      OUR FREEDOM – NO CONDEMNATION

v1 — “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus…”

 

·       No condemnation for those in Christ

·       Christ fulfilled the law for us

·       We live from acceptance, not striving

Stop living under guilt. Stand in the finished work of Jesus.

2.      OUR EMPOWERMENT

v5-6 — “For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh… For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”

 

·       The Spirit empowers, transforms, and assures

·       We are children of God, not slaves

Depend daily on the Holy Spirit—He gives victory and identity.

3.      OUR IDENTITY

v14-16 — “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God… The Spirit itself beareth witness… that we are the children of God.”

·       Believers are not servants—we’re God’s sons and daughters, adopted into His family.

You are not abandoned, rejected, or unknown. You belong to God.

4.      OUR ASSURANCE

v38-39 — “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life… shall be able to separate us from the love of God…”

·       If God is for us, no one can be against us (v.31)

·       Nothing can separate us from the love of Christ (v.35–39)

Your salvation is secure—not because of your grip on God,
but because of God’s grip on you.

Let us pray:

Father in heaven, we thank You for the life-giving truth of Romans 8 — that there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, that Your Spirit dwells in us, and that nothing can ever separate us from Your love. Lord, seal these words in our hearts today. Help us walk not in the flesh but in the power of Your Spirit. Amen.
